Six Haiku for Stephanie

Because I love you,
Even the Sakura weep.
And you still leave me!

You said you loved me.
Yours a ticket to a show.
The show is over!

If you were a rose,
I’d be your morning dewdrop.
I would dry up soon!

To Steph with Love,
Forever yours,

A Response

Winter moon of morning
Lingers in the dawn
Reflection on the sun
Sends its light along

Rippling on water
In waves of peaceful flow
Dancing on a palette
Its song for us to know

I am not the source
But one who eye can’t see
Creator of all things
Of purpose set for me

I’m but a response
Of gifts poured from above
My prayer for you this day

To reflect my love

Holy God We Praise Thy Name

Holy God We Praise Thy Name

Holy God, we praise thy name,
Lord of All, we bow before thee;
All on Earth thy sceptre claim,
All in Heaven above adore thee;
Infinite thy vast domain,
Everlasting is thy reign;
Infinite thy vast domain,
Everlasting is thy reign.

Hark the loud celestial hymn,
Angel choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and seraphim,
In unceasing chorus praising;
Fill the Heavens with sweet accord;
“Holy, holy holy Lord.”
Fill the Heavens with sweet accord;
“Holy, holy holy Lord.”

Ar hyd y nos

Holl amrantau’r sêr ddywedant
Ar hyd y nos
“Dyma’r ffordd i fro gogoniant,”
Ar hyd y nos.
Golau arall yw tywyllwch
I arddangos gwir brydferthwch
Teulu’r nefoedd mewn tawelwch
Ar hyd y nos.

O mor siriol, gwena seren
Ar hyd y nos
I oleuo’i chwaer ddaearen
Ar hyd y nos.
Nos yw henaint pan ddaw cystudd
Ond i harddu dyn a’i hwyrddydd
Rhown ein golau gwan i’n gilydd
Ar hyd y nos.

All the stars’ twinkles say
All through the night
“This is the way to the realm of glory,”
All through the night.
Darkness is another light
That exposes true beauty
The Heavenly family in peace
All through the night.

O, how cheerful smiles the star,
All through the night
To light its earthly sister
All through the night.
Old age is night when affliction comes
But to beautify man in his late days
We’ll put our weak light together
All through the night.

On To Bethlehem Town (Tua Bethlem Dref)

On to Bethlehem Town;
Join the crowd and travel down;
Down the road that leads us to the cradle.
Come all who are able.
Come, come to the stable with hearts full of joy,
As we kneel and pray.
Come and see the child,
With his mother Mary mild.
Come along and worship at the cradle.

There we’ll see the boy;
Hearts aglow with boundless joy;
In the everlasting word.
We will bow before Him.
Come, come and adore Him.
Bringing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
On to see Bethlehem Town;
Join the crowd and travel down.
Down the road that leads us to the cradle.

Tathagata Dancing

Tathagata Dancing

By Akira Tomiyama

Today I picked a flower
In Avatamsaka Garden:
I held it in my hand
And saw the universe blossom!

From a dew drop on a petal
Cintamani gems reflect,
I lost myself counting,
Tathagata dancing
On all the petals wet!

I looked up to ponder
Upon this very flower;
I looked down to wonder:
How many of them are here?

The flowers told their tales:
We too, know not ourselves!
The petals said the same:
Tathagata dance, a game!

All that I could imagine,
All that I could create,
All that I could paint,
All that I could touch…
Weaving my life, a dream!

All that I could trace,
In grateful heart embrace,
A blade of grass, a tree,
A sprinkle of dust, a snowflake,
Tathagata’s divine grace!

All the states within,
All the states without…
Ineffably encompass
Ineffable universe,
Each on its own flower
Tathagata’s dancing
Upon the light
Of petals dewy bright!
